In the Bialowieza forest, one of the most ancient and beautiful European forests, it stands out the aristocrat Giedymin Oak (Quercus robur)(Age : 350 years old; Girth : 440 cm; Height : 27 m). From the information board: “The Great Duke of Lithuania, Giedymin ruled the Bialowieza Forest since 1326. As the legend says, he built here the castle with the tower from pine trunks hewed so well, that they became white. There is a hypothesis that the name of Bialowieza Forest comes from that white tower ” (Bialowieza – Poland)
